INTRODUCTION

The GNG is a virtual group established to provide a forum for psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, neurophysiologists, clinical neuroscientists and others interested in the field of neurosciences to share knowledge and to learn from each other. The aim of the group is to make neuropsychiatry accessible across the globe. Clinicians have an opportunity to discuss complex cases and share research ideas.

The Global Neuropsychiatry Group is endorsed by the International Neuropsychiatry Association. 

The contact person is Jasvinder Singh who established The Global Neuropsychiatry Group, and is a neuropsychiatrist based in Brisbane, Australia.  (more details in the "Please note that" section below).

9h00-10h30 : GNG Webinar. Case presentation 

"Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and driving".

Dr Alex Lehn, Brisbane, Australia.

 Dr Alex Lehn is a neurologist in Brisbane, Australia. He heads the movement disorder service at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and together with Dr Sarah Olson, he runs the deep brain stimulation service at PA Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane. Dr Lehn has a keen interest in Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). He is a founding member and board member of the Functional Neurological Disorder Society. From 2015 to 2019, Dr Lehn headed a dedicated clinic for Functional Neurological Disorders at Mater Hospital Brisbane, the first such clinic in Australia. With his multidisciplinary team of health professionals, he runs regular teaching courses for FND across Australia and has published extensively in this area

Dr Elizabeth Pepper, Hunter, New England

Dr Elizabeth Pepper is a general neurologist and director of the Department of Neurology at John Hunter Hospital, Hunter New England Health District, Australia. Following a fellowship in movement disorders under A Prof Victor Fung and Prof John Morris, her clinical interests now include movement disorders and stroke. Her interest in functional neurological disorders has been driven by clinical demand, and she leads a multidisciplinary team of hospital and community-based clinicians working to improve FND management within Hunter New England

 

Chair : Dr Tim Nicholson

Dr Tim Nicholson is a Reader in Neuropsychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London, and leads the Neuropsychiatry Research and Education Group (NREG). He is an Honorary Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. His clinical and research work focuses on Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), immunopsychiatry and broader neuropsychiatric disorders - including those resulting from COVID-19. He is on the executive committee of the faculty of the neuropsychiatry of the RCPsych, the British Neuropsychiatry Association and Chair of the MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry at the IoPPN.
