Human brain dissection

Co-organized by Prof. Dr Josef Kapfhammer (Neuroanatomy University of Basel) and Prof. Dr. Andreas Vlachos (Neuroanatomy University of Freiburg), this course is a collaborative effort between the Neuroanatomical Departments of the University of Basel and the University of Freiburg and is supported by a grant from Eucor for stimulating collaboration between our Universities.

Many graduate students do their thesis projects in the field of Neuroscience, some even in close relation to human neurological diseases. As most of the graduate students do not have a training in human medicine they were never exposed to human neuroanatomy. The aim of this course is to give these students an opportunity to study human anatomy in a lab course with human specimens and learn about the structures of the human brain which are mostly affected by neurological diseases. The course offers an opportunity to learn human neuroanatomy in a group of graduate students from both the University of Basel and the University of Freiburg.

For Neuroscience graduate students.

Participation is limited to a total 24 students (12 students from Basel and Freiburg) and places are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Only graduate students and post-docs up to 2 years after graduation from Neuroscience laboratories associated with the two Universities can apply.
