Neuronal activity patterns that are defined by the temporal order of activation of individual cells are ubiquitous in the brain and particularly well studied in the hippocampus in the context of spatial navigation. In this talk, I will approach the topic from a "read-out" perspective and present computational ideas on how activity sequences can actually be used to build spatial representations and to retrieve episodic memories.
